Location

A common theme in many write-ups and reviews is that The Sportsman is remote, bleak and a bit of a dump. Equally, many regulars find this point of view shocking as they love to arrive early, go for a walk on the beach and then have lunch or dinner.

How to Find Us

The Sportsman is on the old coastal road between Whitstable and Faversham. For those with GPS, our postcode is CT5 4BP.

To get to The Sportsman from London

Take the M2 toward Dover, at the end of the M2 (Junction 7), continue on the A299 towards Margate/Whitstable. After 500 yards, take the first exit from the A299, signposted Goodnestone / Staple Street and Faversham. After 100 yards, turn right, following signs to Goodnestone and Graveney. Follow the road through the villages for 3.8 miles, you will drive across the marshes approaching the sea wall and The Sportsman will be on your left.

To get here from Dover or Folkestone direction

Take the A2 towards London, then at the large roundabout (Junction 7 of the M2) take the A299 towards Margate / Whitstable. Then follow directions above.

To get here from anywhere else

Follow signs to Whitstable. As you enter the town you will descend a steep hill. At the bottom of the hill there is a left turn called Joy Lane. This is just yards past a petrol station. Turn left onto Joy Lane, and keep going straight for almost 4 miles. You will think you have gone too far, but keep going and the Sportsman will appear on your right.
